Medieval Life

The medieval period, or Middle Ages, was between 1066 and 1485.

There were few towns except London and most people lived in small villages in the countryside, with farming their main occupation.

Life was basically contained in the village, travelling tended to be on foot or horseback to the market in the local town.

Almost everyone grew fruit and vegetables, kept animals and caught fish or rabbits. They also made their own clothes, toys and other belongings.

The wealthier houses would have been like you see at Minworth Greaves, a large open living hall, where cooking, eating and household work would take place.
