Heritage Talk – Tolkien’s Old Worcestershire and Oxford

This illustrated talk by author Robert Blackham covers J.R.R. Tolkien’s life starting in Birmingham (much of which was once part of Worcestershire), and covers many of the places where he lived and visited. Then to Exeter College in Oxford in 1911 and after service in the First World War when Tolkien returned to Oxford for a short time before taking up a position at Leeds University for a few years. It also covers his return to Oxford in 1925 and becoming friends with CS Lewis and a member of The Inklings literary group. We will search for the real Bag End in Worcestershire and take a walk with Tolkien and Lewis on the Malvern Hills before returning to Oxford for the final time.

This talk begins at 7pm.
Booking essential – £5 per person.
